Bahi

Bahi is a handcrafted set of modular bowls inspired by the fluidity and grace of traditional desert dance forms from India. Designed with a focus on usability, the system is stackable, compact, and easy to store, addressing everyday functional needs while elevating the dining experience.

At its core is a rotatable peg-based structure that allows each bowl to move freely, improving accessibility when placed at the center of a table. This simple yet thoughtful intervention transforms how users interact with shared serveware.

The bowls are crafted in ceramic through a detailed process of baking, painting, and glazing, featuring intricate motifs inspired by Rajasthan’s blue pottery. These are paired with precisely handcrafted wooden pegs, creating a balanced interplay of material and form.

Bahi brings together modularity, cultural storytelling, and craftsmanship, translating traditional Indian art forms into a contemporary dining object. The project was shortlisted as a Top Finalist at the Lexus Design Award India 2021.
